"Recreation Revved Up"

Zero miles of pavement

Explore a land only 45 minutes west of downtown Salt Lake City where hundreds of wild horses roam. It's wide open. It's challenging. All of it is unpaved. During this adventure, you'll get to experience a landscape few in Utah have traveled. Home to one of Utah's largest herds, estimated to include around 700 horses, the Cedar Mountain Wilderness contains a total of 100,000 acres and is part of the over 109 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System. The Wild Horse travels across the Hastings Cutoff, a historic portion of the California Trail and the route used by the Donner-Reed party in 1846. This segment is a part of the National Historic Trails route stretching from Independence, Missouri, to California and Oregon. You'll love this WILD ride!

QUESTIONS ABOUT CAMPING AND LOCATION
How you look up this location will determine whether you see Grantsville, Delle or Skull Valley. If you follow the GoogleMaps pin it will direct you to the start/finish area. This is a very large parking lot where race operations will be marked off starting Friday afternoon. We would appreciate it if people did not camp near that area so we don’t have to wake you up at 4:30am Saturday morning to move.

The start/finish area is surrounded by BLM managed land. They have dispersed camping rules that can be found here: https://www.blm.gov/programs/recreation/camping
